The Revealers: Keeping Quiet

Novel connection. When Richie punches Russell in the face, his mother wants to call the principal, however, Russell wants to keep quiet about the whole incident. Russell’s mom’s response was, “I’m not doing nothing. If one adult did this to another, he be in jail. Why should it be different for kids?” (pg.45)

Blog Question: Should kids solve their own problems or should adults/parents get involved? Explain.

I believe that adults/parents should keep out of kids business unless it get out of hand and gets more serious only then should adults/parents should come in and help solve the problem. The problem Russel is dealing with is kind of tough to know if it is necessary to have an adult or should it be between to kids. On one hand Richie punched Russel which would make it an adult responsibility to come between but on the other hand Richie moved him on to the grass instead of leaving him onto the road so I am confused on what Russel should do. Overall kids should learn how to be friends and civil when dealing with a problem.

  1. Anuvrat, your opinion matches with mine! You did a great job on explaining clearly about your opinion, but what about if Russel gets really scared and that he will alwasys keep his mouth shut? Nice job!
